We’re proud of our team of passionate, experienced and dedicated teachers, many of whom began their own dance journeys at Shimmi Shake. They care just as much about building confidence as they do perfecting technique, each bringing their own spark to create a space where every dancer can shine, grow and feel like they belong.

Samantha Cramer, Principal
Sam joined Shimmi Shake when she was just three, growing from a young student into its proud Principal. Her lifelong passion for dance led her to achieve her IDTA teaching qualification during her senior years at the school. Alongside running Shimmi Shake, Sam is a devoted mum of two and has built a career in finance, though dance has always been her true calling. She is dedicated to passing on her love for the art, ensuring every student is given the encouragement, opportunities, and support to shine both on and off the stage.

Sue Mahoney, Founder
Sue Mahoney founded Shimmi Shake Dance Studios at just 18, driven by a passion for dance and a vision to create a school that feels like family. With over 35 years of teaching experience, her inclusive, confidence-led approach has helped generations of students grow and even become qualified teachers themselves.

Blythe Couldridge, Assistant Principal and Head Choreographer
Blythe joined Shimmi Shake at five years old, making it a place very close to her heart. After graduating from Performers College in 2021 with a BA in Dance and Musical Theatre, she performed at the BRIT Awards for Dua Lipa and the Men’s Euros Closing Ceremony. Today, she shares her skills and passion with dancers of all ages.
Isabella Engles, Teaching Assistant
Izzy’s been dancing since the age of three. She’s recently completed a two-year Extended Diploma in Dance at The BRIT School and is set to begin a BA (Hons) in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at Bird College. Passionate about working with children and inspiring their love of dance, Izzy is proud to be part of the Shimmi Shake family.
Jessica Wright, Musical Theatre Teacher
Jess trained at Performers College, graduating with a distinction in Professional Musical Theatre. Since then, she has balanced performing on stage with teaching. With a career spanning West End shows, UK tours, international stages, and even performing at Wembley Stadium, she brings a wealth of experience to Shimmi Shake.
Freya Gloag, Dance Teacher
Freya’s danced at Shimmi Shake since the age of nine, alongside playing football and practising karate. She loves the way dance challenges her to learn new skills, helping her grow both on and off the dance floor. For Freya, Shimmi Shake feels like family, thanks to the friendships she’s built and the strong connections she has with her teachers.
Lydia Murfitt, Teaching Assistant
Lydia, who is half Kenyan and half British, has been dancing with Shimmi Shake since she was six years old and has a special love for street dance. For her, dance is pure joy and a creative escape, and she credits Shimmi Shake’s support, encouragement, and love with helping her reach her full potential throughout her dance journey.
