Principal Sue Mahoney founded Shimmi Shake in 1997. Sue says “I had loved dancing since the age of 3 and took my first dance teaching qualification at 18. After twelve years in a career in the City I was ready to light my, previously hidden, entrepreneurial flame and I decided to put my professional dance teaching qualifications to good use by starting my own dance school.” “When Shimmi Shake was born in April 1997, I had just 3 pupils, by the end of that year the school had grown to 200 pupils. The driving force for growth came from identifying the need for good quality after-school dance tuition within local Primary schools, making it easy for parents and pupils”.
